Services We Offer:

Information and Referral

Reach out with any questions that you have about resources, benefits, employment, or community for adults with disabilities. If Staff is not able to answer questions they will provide resources that would be better suited with the information.

CICIL Connection Center

Located in Des Moines, the center is a place to meet up with peers and partake in a variety of activities.

CICIL is currently working on doing one or two day pop up locations in other cities. Please reach out via email or phone if you would like that near you!

Individual and Systems Advocacy

Advocacy can take many forms. Joining with others to attend 'Day on the Hill' events, speaking up about increasing pay with medicaid/medicare. Making sure that community is accessible to people with disabilities, not just events where they are the main focus. On a more individual level advocacy can be speaking with guardians about a persons 'Right to Choose', making sure people are receiving equal pay, able to maintain employment if that is what they want, and much more.

Peer Support

Sometimes it is nice to talk with other individuals who are also living with a disability. Staff at CICIL lead group sessions to talk with peers to share experiences, difficulties, and accomplishments. Staff are also available for one on one sessions.

Transition and Employment Services

Several members of Staff specialize in helping adults with disabilities find, start, and keep a job. They work with you were ever you are in the process whether that is creating a professional resume or on the job coaching.

Independent Living Skills

Through out the year CICIL hosts different individual and group training sessions to help with educating people about a variety of subjects. While some are hosted regularly; others are set up as people ask to learn about something in particular. Below is a list of some of the trainings CICIL has hosted.

  • Different Ways to Use Dart Bus

  • 6 week Cooking Class

  • Voters Rights

  • Sex Ed Class

  • Emotions Workshop

  • Setting Appropriate Boundaries with Friends

  • etc.
